Grove Illuminated
Grove Illuminated is a site-responsive projection and sound project presented as a one-night event in Ocean Grove. The work brought together multiple moving image pieces, including Takayna, across a mixed-use laneway environment incorporating a gallery and adjoining spaces.
Using projection and sound, the site was reconfigured as a shared viewing environment, with works unfolding across interior and exterior spaces and shaped by moving image, live audio, and the existing rhythms of the site.

Site-responsive projection + sound installation
Immersive laneway activation
Ecological / place-based audiovisual mapping
Concept
The installation draws from field recordings and visual material gathered in Takayna, an ancient rainforest in Tasmania’s north-west. These recordings form the basis of an audiovisual environment that explores the relationship between place, ecological fragility, and collective perception. Rather than presenting narrative in a linear way, the work constructs a layered spatial experience where sound, projection, and architecture interact in real time.
Installation
The laneway environment was transformed through large-scale projections mapped across architectural surfaces, creating shifting atmospheres of light and movement. An intimate screening of Takayna was embedded within the space, accompanied by original wildlife recordings recorded by Holliday In parallel, photographic works were installed within the adjacent café space, extending the visual language of the installation into a secondary viewing environment.
Context
Grove Illuminated was developed as an independent, site-led installation presented within a community setting, integrating projection, sound, photography, and spatial design into a single cohesive environment. The project also included live music, local artists, local gallery and curated site activations as part of a broader evening program. Developed and presented as an independent site-responsive installation in collaboration with local artists and community spaces.
